Connie Mae (Mower) Orr

March 17, 1926 — April 8, 2015

Connie Mae Orr, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, was taken into the arms of her Father in Heaven on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 and was also anxiously welcomed by her loving husband and other loved ones who had gone before her. She was surrounded by family and friends at her home in Brookside as she made a final change of address.

She was born March 17, 1926 in Fairview, UT, to Clarence and Leona Mower. She married Leudell L. Orr in Provo, UT on May 10, 1943, and on May 22, 1965 their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple. They had been married for 54 years when Leudell (Luke) passed away from cancer in 1997.

Connie was raised in the tiny town of Spring Canyon in Carbon County and later moved to Springville where she attended Springville High School.

She always had employment and worked for Geneva Steel during the war. She also worked at South Main Market and Brookside Market where she kept books.

Church callings were extremely important to her and she loved the Lord and his Gospel.

Being a gifted athlete, she won the Hobble Creek Club Championship and had five holes-in-one. She and Luke also bowled and were avid outdoors participants. She was one of the Utah Jazz’ biggest fans and loved BYU football. She loved them win-lose-or draw.

Connie loved poetry and could recite poems of great length by heart. Her family always made her recite poems like “laska” or “The Soul of the Violin”.

Nobody loved Christmas like she did. Her decorations won awards. She spent the months of October and November making dipped chocolates which were later given away to friends and family for gifts. They were the best ever made.

Of course, the most important thing in her life was family. She and Luke had three children: Kathy (Dan) Harrison-Pleasant Grove, Richard L (Kathy) Orr-Monroe and Shauna Orr Memory-Springville; 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Luke; sisters: Beth Johnson, LaRue Wiley, Neatha Greener Elliott Wilson; brothers: Eugene Mower (Juanita) and Donald Mower (Pearl) and one grandchild, Michael Richard Orr.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hobble Creek West Stake Center, 555 S. 600 E. (Averett Ave.) Springville, UT. Viewings will be held at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville on Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the church one hour prior to the funeral services. Burial will be in the Historic Springville City Cemetery.
