On May 4, 2017, and following a long and courageous health battle, our beloved patriarch, Conrad Neil Haug, 83 of Gillette, WY, surrounded by loved ones, peacefully returned to his loving Heavenly Father.
“Connie” was born August 16, 1933 in Cheyenne, WY. His family later moved to Green River, WY, where he was raised. He enlisted immediately after high school and served honorably in the Korean War.
After military service he received his Masters in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wyoming (attending on scholarship) and met the love and joy of his life, Ruth Ann Robinson. They married on June 20, 1959. There was never any question to their family or friends that they adored each other. Connie worked in the oil industry until he became an agent for New York Life in 1969. Connie and his wife have been Gillette, WY residents for 49 years.
Connie is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he diligently served in the Church and community throughout his life. He was a quiet and gentle man who was loved by all.
He loved the great State of Wyoming and was a huge Wyoming Cowboy fan! “There are too many dirt roads I haven’t traveled in Wyoming, so no need to leave,” was his common reply to requests from family members who suggested other road trips.
Connie enjoyed the important and simple things in life: talking with family, fishing with his father, riding horses in the mountains with his father-in-law and family, camping expeditions with his family, sports, playing cribbage, watching Westerns, and Saturday night movies with his sweet wife. He loved showing grandchildren the sights of Wyoming and South Dakota and traveling the world through the Discovery channel.
Connie was a kind, loving, selfless, and thoroughly involved husband, father, and grandfather who was and will always be adored by his family. His quick but dry wit drew everyone to him.
Connie was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Hannah Haug, brother, Richard “Dick” Haug, and grandson Kai Haug. He is survived by his wife Ruth Ann Haug recently of Mapleton, Utah, son Barry Haug (Brendalee) of Flower Mound, Texas, daughter Lisa Ann Dew (Brad) of Mapleton, Utah, and son Eric Haug (Jenica) of Las Vegas, Nevada, 13 grandchildren, and 6 great children.
