Cynthia Ann (Hetzel) Stevens

July 14, 1967 — March 15, 2015

Cindy Stevens, age 47, of Springville quietly passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015.  She was born July 14 th , 1967 in San Diego California to her loving and devoted parents, George Franklin Hetzel II and Sandra Clair Green-Hetzel.  On November 25 th , 1988 she married the love of her life John Lindsay Cooper Stevens in the Manti LDS Temple.  Together they raised two wonderful, loving children, Joshua Taylor Stevens and Benjamin John Stevens.

Cindy was an extraordinary person who capacity for loving others had no bounds.  Despite the many challenges she faced throughout the course of her short life she met each day, each person, and each situation with hope and happiness.  With unwavering faith and courage she pressed forward with a heart as big as heaven itself.  Cindy was a very accomplished person who held many leadership roles in her chosen profession as a software engineer for companies such as WordPerfect, Novell, City of Ft. Collins, Agillent Technologies, and with Oakley/Raytheon Networks.  Despite her many professional accomplishments if anyone were to have asked Cindy what in her life she was most proud of, without question she would say her role as a mother and wife.  Her children, Josh and Ben, were her everything.  Her hopes, dreams and countless prayers on their behalf lifted her up and carried her through her life’s most challenging moments.  Never before has there been, nor will there ever be again, a mother who loved her children as much as Cindy loved hers; they truly were the light of her life.

Second to her love for her family and friends was her love of music.  Through her beautiful voice she was able to share her love, her compassion for others, and her faith and testimony of her Savior and the healing powers of the gospel.  Her songs were her prayers and her voice was that of an angel.  She touched and healed the lives of so many people through the use of this Devine gift.

Above all Cindy was a person of extraordinary faith.  She knew with every fiber of her being that her Father in Heaven was always by her side.  She knew that the healing power of the atonement was real and available to anyone who would seek it out.  She found great comfort, direction and hope in her daily scripture reading and in her daily prayers.  There is no doubt that Cindy has earned her place among Heaven Father’s choicest spirits and will be waiting to greet us all on with one of her warm and caring “Cindy Hugs.”

Cindy is survived by her loving husband John and her two sons, Josh and Ben.  She is also survived by a loving mother Sandra Hetzel, her adoring sister Wendy VanHorne, her brother-in-law Jeff VanHorne and their two children Tiffany VanHorne and Skylar VanHorne, a loving brother Sheldon Hetzel, his wife Lynn Hetzel and their children Andrew Hetzel and Michael Hetzel, and an endless list of friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and in-laws; all of which she loved equally and with all of her heart.  Cindy is preceded in death by her loving father, George Franklin Hetzel II.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 21st, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Hobble Creek 2 nd Ward Chapel located at 900 South 146 0 East in Springville Utah.  Friends and Family are invited to attend a public viewing on Friday, March 20 th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville.  A second viewing for family and close friends will be held Saturday morning one hour prior to funeral services at the Hobble Creek 2 nd Ward Chapel.  Burial services will be held immediately following the funeral at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville.
