DeVere Carman Erb passed away peacefully at his home in Placentia, California, on July 31, 2016, surrounded by his family, at the age of 97.
DeVere was born May 7, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Claude DeVere Erb and Annie Francis Carman Erb. He married his sweetheart Ruth Condie on May 16, 1943 in Glendale, California. They were blessed with six children.
DeVere served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. In 1952 DeVere graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Upon graduating, he was hired by Union Oil Company.  He enjoyed a long career with them as Purchasing Manager until his retirement in 1986.
DeVere was an accomplished vocalist and was professionally trained under American opera singer, Emma Lucy Gates Bowen. He was a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, sang in several barbershop quartets and various choirs throughout his life. He was a guest soloist for many different events.  As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he delighted in being the choir director for many years.
He enjoyed building things and could fix just about anything. He had a great sense of humor and was even making jokes up to the last few days of his earthly life.
DeVere also loved to travel with his wife and family. Family always came first and he organized yearly family reunions with his children and ever-growing posterity.
He is survived by his children, DeAnn (Blaine) Ridd, Lyle (Candace) Erb, Anita (Clint) Bunker, Susan (Jon) Hansen, Lisa Davies, and loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  DeVere was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Condie Erb and son, Bruce Condie Erb.
Funeral service were held Saturday, August 6, 2016 in Placentia, California, 92870.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 9:30 in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah
