Diane Thorn Preston, 65, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on September 14, 2017.
Diane was born to Grant and Naomi Thorn on November 7th, 1951 in Provo, Utah. She was the youngest of their four children. She grew up in Springville except for the three years she spent in the mission field with her parents while her father was the mission president of the North British Mission. Diane was fondly known as the "mission brat”.
Diane attended school in Springville and particularly enjoyed high school. It was during her junior year when she met and fell in love with her eternal sweetheart, Jeff Preston. They dated for three years and, on June 23rd 1972, they were married. Two years later, their union was solemnized in the Provo Temple.
Jeff and Diane spent 45 years together raising four children and doing everything as one. Many days and nights were spent at the ball fields with the boys and Andrea for their sporting events. And several family trips were taken to support Karlie on her many achievements in the Special Olympics.
Whether she was on a scenic drive in Utah, on the islands of Hawaii, or on the bow of a great cruise ship, Diane loved to travel. She also loved to go out to dinner with family and friends. However, most of all, her favorite place and Friday night spot was Mi Ranchito's in Orem. To them, she was family.
She is survived by her husband, Jeff Preston; children, Jeremy (Jennifer) of Eagle Mountain, Karlie of Mapleton, Shad (Susan Mucha) of Springville, Andrea (Sebastian) Ceballos of Orem; 10 grandchildren; brother Jerry (Carol) Thorn; sister Linda Pearce; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Her family wish to express their deep appreciation to the staffs of both Timpanogos Hospital and Utah Valley Regional Hospital, as well as Access Hospice and Home Health.
