E. Alan Roylance

Erling Alan Roylance passed away July 15, 2017 in Payson, Utah. Alan was born in Springville, Utah on February 3, 1940 to Erling Archie and Lucy Childs Roylance.  He grew up in Springville where he enjoyed farming, ranching and learning to be an auto mechanic at Phillips Garage.  Alan was a 1958 graduate of Springville High School and later attended Snow College where he was a member of the football team and was privileged to play in the first ever Peach Bowl. He attended Utah State University where he continued his football career and obtained a degree in Automotive Technology.
Alan married Venita Parry on September 14, 1961. Alan and Venita made their home in Springville where they raised their five children together. They later divorced.  Alan was a hard worker.  One of his favorite jobs was teaching auto mechanics to at risk youth for Provo Canyon School District.   Alan worked for Springville City as a firefighter and EMT for 36 years where he loved his association with the many wonderful firefighters, EMTs, and police officers. Alan enjoyed his membership in the UWRCA during the last 10 years of his life.
Alan married his sweetheart, Melanie Hansen, on February 2, 2006.  They were later sealed in the Provo Temple. Alan and Melanie shared a love of horses, camping and the outdoors.  After his retirement from Springville City they made their home in Payson, Utah where they were living out their dream of the country life.
Alan was an active member of the LDS church. He had a deep love of the Savior and love of family. His favorite thing was to be surrounded by those he loved.  He loved hunting, fishing and riding horses with his family.  He will be deeply missed.
Alan is survived by his wife, Melanie, Sydney (Mark) Snow, Leslie (Ross) Maxfield, Alex (Tanya) Roylance, Thomas (Heather) Roylance, Andrew (Danna) Roylance, Joshua (Angye) Lancaster, Colby Lancaster, Zachary (Cheyenne) Lancaster, Rand (Becky) Lancaster, Christy Dickey, 29 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents and his sister, Marilyn (Jack) Whitehead.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, UT from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 12:00 pm, Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the West Mountain 3rd Ward Chapel, 902 W 400 N, Payson, UT with a viewing at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Springville, UT.
