1925 Golden 2016

Golden Lewis Stallings

September 17, 1925 — October 4, 2016

When old cowboys die they leave a legacy that movies are created from, this also rings true for Golden L Stallings. Golden was born to Lewis and Vernice Stallings on September 17, 1925 in Salt Lake City, they moved to Spanish Fork  where Golden and his brothers Blaine and Eldon and sisters Sylvia and Alene grew up.
Golden served  in the United States Marine Corps, he was deployed during World War II to the South Pacific where he completed many tasks. After the war ended Golden returned to Spanish Fork where he courted and married the woman that tamed the outlaw. Golden and LuDeen Thorpe were married in a courthouse ceremony on September 25, 1947, at the time he was working for the Rio Grand RailRoad. Soon after he started working for Springville Fire Department and moved to Springville City Street Department where he worked for 37 years and later retired.
Golden often said he did not grow up until he and mom started raising their kids Lewis, Suzzanne, Larry, Boyd, Eddie, Julie, Nancy, Tim and Glen. They had their own heaven on earth in Mapleton where Golden would spend his time creating with his hands from his award winning garden, master mechanic shop or his wood shop that only would compare to the tool department at Sears. If you ever needed a tool he was sure to have it.
Golden leaves a legacy of 9 kids, 25 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren. He walked into the sunset being greeted by his beautiful wife LuDeen, sons Lewis, Tim and Glen, and a sister Alene, parents Lewis and Vernice and many friends and relatives. Golden is survived by Suzzanne of Nephi, Paula (Lewis) of Payson, Larry (Jenny) of Spanish Fork, Boyd (Carolyn) of Santaquin, Eddie (Stephanie) of Spanish Fork, Julie and Nancy (Danny) of American Fork.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday October 10th with viewings on Sunday evening from 6 to 8pm and Monday one hour prior to the services all held at Wheeler Mortuary 211 East 200 South Springville. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery also in Springville.
The Stallings Family extends their gratitude to the Legacy House of Spanish Fork and Encompass Home Health & Hospice.
