Grace Lucille (Tommas) Alleman

June 6, 1920 — August 30, 2016

Grace L. Tommas Alleman, age 96, of Springville, Utah died August 30, 2016 from complications related to a fall.

Born June 6,1920, to Austin V. and Marie H. Tommas, in New York City. She graduated from Rockville Center High School, Long Island, New York, in 1938. She was attending college with aspirations of becoming a lawyer until WWII broke out. Her life focus then became the War effort. She met and later married Wm. Max Alleman on January 16,1943, at Mitchell Field, New York. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. After the War, they made in home in Springville, Utah, where they resided until their passing.

Grace loved being a mother and homemaker. She was proactive in civic service, Scouts, PTA, home culture club and always willing to serve. She was an active member of the Kolob 2nd Ward, serving in multiple callings. She looked forward to their annual Spring vacation of planting at Diamond's Greenhouse. Her passion was the Springville City Art Museum, where served as a docent for over 60 years. Max and she received the Governor's Silver Bowl Award for community service. She loved her family and cherished her friends.

She is survived by: Son-in-law, Lewis McCurdy (Lynbrook, NY); three sons: Duane and Barbara Alleman (Lehi), Clifford and Terry Alleman (Springville), Tom and Kate Alleman (Price); and one daughter, Mary Ann and Todd Eyres (Springville); 20 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Sister, Edith Walsh (Florida); brother-in-law, Glen and Afton Alleman (Springville); brother-in-law, J. Rolla (Dutch) Hall (Springville).

She is preceded in death by: husband, Wm. Max Alleman; daughter, Diana McCurdy; grandson, James McCurdy; and sister, Marian Tommas.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 11 AM, in the LDS meeting house at 840 South 400 East, Springville, Utah. Viewing at the Wheeler Mortuary, on Friday, September 2nd, from 6-8 PM (211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah) and one hour prior to the service. Internment at the Springville City Historic Cemetery.
