James Demos Ratos

August 22, 1925 — April 24, 2016

James Demos Ratos, 90, of Springville, Utah passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016.  He was born August 22, 1925 in Joliet, Illinois to Demos Ratos and Mary Malakar Ratos.  He attended school in Joliet also.  James married Mildred Miller on September 22, 1945 in San Francisco, California.
His favorite hobby was watching his Chicago Cubs playing baseball whether they won or lost.  He worked at Geneva Steel for 36 years as a ladle liner.  He was an active member of the Provo Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and enjoyed teaching Bible truths to interested ones.  He especially enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren.
James is survived by his children son, James Ratos, Jr. of Springville and daughters, Diane Davis, Springville; Christine and Bruce Morrison, Springville; Catherine and Kevin Titcomb, Spanish Fork; He had 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way.  He is also survived by his brother George and Sigrun Ratos and his family of Houston, TX.  He also had many nieces and nephews and friends that he loved very dearly.  Preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one grandchild.
The family would like to give a very special thanks to Encompass Home Health and Hospice for their love and care these past few months.  We give special thanks to Ela, Susan, Robyne, Kasia and Dr. Gary Miller.  And a very special thank you to his dear friend Dr. William Alward.
Memorial services will be Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 491 North 1280 West in Provo, Utah.
