Jeanne Millar Stonely passed away September 5th, 2017 surrounded by her family.  Jeanne was born on August 17th, 1937 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Arvil and Melba Millar.  Jeanne was raised lovingly on a farm in Shelley, Idaho.  She loved her horse, dog and had a great affection for music.   In her youth, Jeanne had many cousins as close friends and playmates.  She was involved in 4-H, marching band and was an accomplished pianist.  She graduated from Shelley High School as Valedictorian in 1955.  She was blessed with one sister, Gale Millar Hampton.

Jeanne went to Brigham Young University earned her B.A. with high honors in 1959 and later her M.A. in 1965.  It was here that she met John Daniel Stonely of Rochester, New York.  They were married in the Idaho Falls, Idaho temple on June 10th 1959. Together they made their home in Provo, Utah raising seven children.

Jeanne taught Home Economics and French at Orem High School until starting her family.  She taught piano and sewing lessons in her home to many children while raising her family.  She was an active 4-H leader teaching gardening, sewing and cooking.  She was a teacher at heart, bravely trying new things, always learning and sharing what she knew.

As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she enjoyed serving in Primary and Relief Society.  As a visiting teacher, she made many lifetime friends.  Playing the organ and singing in the choir brought her much joy.

Upon retiring, Dan and Jeanne moved to Mt. Pleasant, Utah enjoying the cabin they had spent years building. This became grandma and grandpa’s home and they loved to make it a happy place for their many grandchildren to visit.  In 2001, they served a mission in the Toronto, Canada fulfilling a lifetime goal of Jeanne’s.  They later spent their winter months in Apache Junction, AZ.  In each place, Jeanne lived, she made many friends.
