John Ruel Child

February 15, 1943 — October 11, 2017

John Ruel Child, born February 15th 1943, passed away surrounded by loved ones October 11th 2017.  John was born to Hardy L Child & Norma D Averett.  He was raised in Springville, Utah with his sister Colene & brother Bill.  John attended Grant Elementary, Springville Jr. High, and Graduated a Mighty Red Devil in 1961.

In his younger years he spent his childhood at the family ranch in Wanrhodes, up Diamond Fork Canyon. He enjoyed being with his brother and Dad surrounded by his dads friends. They spent time hunting, fishing, and working at the ranch. John was a great athlete. He played baseball, basketball, and football & was the co-captain for the football team his senior year. He was a Red Devil fan for life. After graduation he married the love of his life LaRue Savage, in the Manti Temple Sept 6th 1962. Together they raised three wonderful children.  John and LaRue recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary surrounded by amazing friends and family.

John worked hard for various companies within Clyde Companies Inc., and retired after 43 years of service and dedication. He made it a whole one week before he went back to work driving School Bus for Special needs kids in the Nebo School District. He retired from there after 5 years. He was active in the community where he served as the VP of Pony Baseball, and Director of Youth Football. Later in life he enjoyed being involved with special need youth hunts up on the family Ranch. John was an active member of the LDS Church where he served in the Bishopric, and later as Bishop.

Johns greatest love was his wife LaRue, his kids and especially his grandkids. He treated each with a love that cannot be replaced, and that love will be dearly missed. There was no one better than papa.

John is survived by his beautiful wife LaRue, his children Shawni Clayton (Steve), Chris Child (Leslie), DeDe Child (Carrie), 5 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by their daughter Stacie Child, and his parents Hardy & Norma Child.

The family would like to personally thank Tyler and Cami for the loving compassionate service they provided our dad. He loved and adored you both.
