Joy Inga (Christiansen) Gledhill

Joy Inga Christiansen Gledhill of Springville, Utah was reunited with her husband and family on Tuesday, June 28, 2016.  Joy passed away peacefully after a brief illness. She lived a long and fulfilling life.  Joy was strong, smart, beautiful, and extremely dedicated to her family.

On October 30, 1928 Joy was born to Merrill and Dolres Christiansen. She graduated from Weber High School and the University of Utah. Joy married David Eames Gledhill, the love of her life, on April 9, 1953 in the Manti LDS Temple. She taught school in Nebo School District for nearly 30 years.

A single word to describe Joy is “service.” She dutifully and faithfully served her family and church throughout her life.  There was no more dedicated wife and mother than Joy.  She and David fulfilled three full time missions for the LDS Church and spent countless hours serving in the temple.  She traveled the world with family and friends, endlessly positive and enthusiastic for any adventure.

Joy was preceded in death by her dear husband David just 16 months ago and son-in-law Timothy Johnston. Survivors include her children, Bret David (Teresa) Gledhill of Basin City, Washington, her dear daughter Rebecca Johnston of Springville, and Kent Merrill (Tanna) Gledhill of Provo.  Joy and David have 13 Grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

The viewing will be held Friday, July 1st from 6 – 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S. in Springville.  Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 2 at the Hobble Creek Stake Center, 495 South Canyon Road at 11 am, with a viewing at the church one hour prior to the funeral.  Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
