LaRaye (Johnson) Gabbitas

September 19, 1939 — February 17, 2018

The most wonderful wife, mother, sister and grandma great EVER. La Raye Johnson Gabbitas, 78, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on February 17, 2018 in Santaquin, UT.

Mom was born September 19, 1939 to Willis K. Johnson III and Madge Hales Johnson.  Mom grew up in Springville and was a mighty Red Devil.  Mom married the love of her life David Lee Gabbitas on January 4, 1964, together they had 3 children Tom, LeeAnn and Jim.  Mom loved her family, family camping trips, family BBQ’s and most of all the 24th of July family reunions up Springville crossing and the very special trips with just her and dad fishing and camping.  Mom loved to color, quilt, sew and play cards, and also being the best cross walk lady.  Mom knew every child by their name, she loved her crosswalk kids.

Mom is survived by her sweetheart of 64 years and her 3 children, Tom Gabbitas, LeeAnn Powell of Santaquin, Jim (Lori) Gabbitas from Springville, 13 Grand kids and 15 Great Grand kids, Sister Kaye (Bob) Wiley of Springville, Brother Ted (Kris) Johnson of Springville and Dave (Laura) Johnson of Payson. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, in laws Robert A. Gabbitas, Beryl Hill Gabbitas and Sister-in-law Mary Lee Rowland Johnson.

Viewings will be held, Thursday, February 22 from 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary 211 E. 200 S. or Friday, February 23 on hour prior to the burial at 11 a.m. in Springville Evergreen Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent at www.wheelermortuaries.com.
