Lynda Faith (O'Driscoll) Ashcraft

March 24, 1951 ~ October 12, 2017 (age 66)

Heaven was recently blessed by the passing of a precious angel.  Lynda Faith (O’Driscoll) Ashcraft, age 66, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her adoring family on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at her home in Payson, Utah.  Lynda’s death followed a valiant three-year fight with cancer.  Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and love and prayers of family and friends carried her through the final weeks of her mortal existence.

Lynda was born March 24, 1951 to Dorothy Opal Abney and Lynn C. O’Driscoll in Roosevelt, Utah.  As the oldest of four children, Lynda’s love for serving and nurturing others took root at a young age.  She graduated from Kearns High School in 1969, and briefly attended Brigham Young University before marrying Don M. Ashcraft in the Salt Lake City temple on January 8, 1971.  Lynda treasured nothing more than caring for and serving her 7 children and 17 grandchildren.  She was a dedicated and faithful wife, mother and grandma.  Lynda was also a masterful teacher.  Among other things, she loved teaching her children and grandchildren important truths and principles.

In addition to her unremitting service to her family, Lynda was constant in loving, serving and caring for friends, neighbors, and even total strangers.  No one was more generous than Lynda in the giving of time and of gifts to others.  She was also known for her ease in frequent conversation, and all who had the privilege of interacting with her immediately felt of her genuineness, goodness and kindness.  Every person that met Lynda, immediately felt loved and accepted by her.

Lynda was also known for her creativity and artistic abilities.  She loved writing music, poetry, and calligraphy.  She also enjoyed writing and performing historical portrayals.  She was an expert at gardening, sewing, and cooking.  She was actively involved in politics and dedicated countless hours to performing her civic duties.  She was also passionate about family history and journal writing.

Lynda was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in numerous callings throughout her life.  She enjoyed being a service missionary with her husband in the Records Operations Center in Orem, Utah.  She also loved serving as a temple worker in the Provo and Payson temples.

Lynda is survived by her husband of 46 years, Don M. Ashcraft; her children Ryan Christian Ashcraft (Robyn) of Bluffdale, UT, Nathaniel D Ashcraft (Amy) of Highland, UT, Crystal Eileen Nyman (Jeffrey) of Kaysville, UT, Michael Lloyd Ashcraft (Geniel), of Saratoga Springs, UT, Camille Irene Barnum (Shawn), of Santaquin, UT, Joshua Kimball Ashcraft (Torrence), of Salt Lake City, UT, and Miriam Elizabeth Pinon (Ricky), of Santaquin, UT.  Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, her siblings Rebecca Young, of Colorado, Michael O’Driscoll, of Utah, and Jeffrey O’Driscoll, of Colorado.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the Payson 18th Ward Chapel located at 482 W. 1400 S., Payson, Utah.  Viewings will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, at the Payson 18th Ward Chapel located at 482 W. 1400 S., Payson, Utah, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church on Saturday.  Burial will be at the Springville City Historic Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent at www.wheelermorturaries.com.
