Marilyn C Reed

January 26, 1927 ~ March 17, 2017 (age 90)

Marilyn Crandall Reed, 90, of Springville, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born January 26, 1927 in Springville to Clifford Hjorth Crandall and Grace Aleda Christensen. She married George Martain Reed for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple on July 30, 1947 and was finally reunited with him after 29 years.

Marilyn was raised in Springville and graduated from Springville High School. She attended BYU after graduation and later worked for BYU for 23 years in the bakery at the Cannon Center. She received the Cloward Award from BYU in 1992 for the exemplary service she rendered to the BYU community and its students over the years.

She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served diligently in all of her callings, most importantly as a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved and adored her family, who in return loved and adored her. She was a wonderful cook and baker, loved to quilt and make beautiful porcelain pieces for her family. She was a die-hard BYU fan and season ticket holder for many years, and also a member of the Cougar Club. She and Mart enjoyed the close association with many friends where they enjoyed being part of a dinner group with seven other couples that met monthly for over 65 years. Marilyn also met monthly with “Club”, a group of women who were friends since high school.

She was preceded in death by her eternal companion Mart, her parents, and her brothers Clifford Jr., Lynn, and Gordon. She is survived by her five children Karen Reed, Nancy Reed, David (Gwen), Richard (Susan), and Diane Hatfield (Kevin), her brother Gary (Cleo), sisters in-law Sharon Clayson Crandall and Marilyn Frost Crandall.
