Mary Lynn Lee

November 22, 1945 — August 23, 2016

Mary Lynn Lee passed away peacefully, with her loving husband by her side, Tuesday, August 23rd, 2016. Mary Lynn was born in Provo, Utah on November 22nd, 1945 to Domingo and LuDean Rodriquez. She graduated from Springville High School in 1964 where she was sophomore art queen, junior class officer and junior varsity and varsity cheerleader. In June of 1967 she married her high school sweetheart, Dale G. Lee. Together they have 7 children and 14 beautiful grandchildren. In 1970 she graduated from Southern Utah University with a composite degree in business administration and home economics. In college she was active serving as student body secretary and president of the Pi Rho Omega sorority. She was selected as Miss Pi Rho "Perfection" and easily won the title of "Miss Personality" at the 1966 Homecoming celebration. She was also honored to serve as "Miss CSU" from 1967-68.

True to form, Mary Lynn's dedication to "perfection" continued after college serving in her church and community and thriving as an outstanding homemaker and mother. She was a prominent member of the Utah Homemakers Association where she served as vice president and president. In 1975 she was named Utah Young Homemaker of the Year and lectured extensively on the subject of homemaking and child rearing. As a superb cook, she wrote a popular newspaper column, "Castle Cookery", where she shared recipes, pictures and commentary on motherhood and the art of perfecting culinary and domestic life (a "lifestyle" blogger well before her time). Mary Lynn was extremely talented. She played the piano, had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing with the Musettes. She also loved decorating, crafting and was an excellent seamstress.

In 1983, while 4 months pregnant with her 7th child, she suffered a massive brain hemorrhage that caused a stroke, leaving her partially paralyzed. The fact that she survived and went on to give birth to a beautiful boy was considered, by many, a miracle. Life was difficult after the debilitating stroke, but with the help of her sweet and dedicated husband, she went on to raise her children the very best she could. She loved her family and will be remembered for her exquisite beauty, creative genius and dedicated service to her church and community.

Mary Lynn is survived by her husband, Dale and children, Wendy (Mark) Packard, Melinda (David) Lee, Stacey (Troy) Killpack, Amanda (Jess) Bailie, Bonnie Lee, Teresa (Seth) Lee and Bretton (Sadey) Lee and her grandchildren, Allysa, Hannah and Lela Packard, Jonas, Henry and Caroline Killpack, Maggie, Charlotte and Ella Jane Bailie, Finn Ryerson, Adyson and Piper Montgomery, Jagger B Lee, and (last but not least) baby Violet Rae — born today, straight from heaven, where we like to think she's been happily dancing with her grandma Mary.

We invite everyone to celebrate Mary Lynn's life by attending her viewing held on Monday, August 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S. Springville, UT. The funeral will be Tuesday, August 30th at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 400 E. 400 N. Springville, Utah.
