Allen Mark Pyne

May 20, 1961 — October 8, 2019

Allen Mark Pyne - father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend - passed away on October 8, 2019, after many years of struggles with serious health problems. He fought valiantly and bravely, but is now reunited with his beloved mother and father, his baby girl Jaqueline, his buddy/cousin Richard and many other loved ones he had missed so much. We are comforted in knowing that he is at last free from his pain and reunited with those he loved. It seems fitting that he would be called home on Mom’s birthday.
Allen was born in Moab, Utah on May 20, 1961 to Lamar and Dixie Pyne. The family moved to Springville when he was still a baby. He loved growing up in Springville and sure knew how to get in trouble with his cousin Raisy (Ray). But the trouble was never very serious, and really he was a pretty good kid. He graduated from Springville High, and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Archeology from BYU. Later in life, he earned a Pharmacy Tech certificate. We always thought of him as our Renaissance Man, and we all agreed that he was the most intelligent of the Pyne bunch. He had been accepted to several Ivy League schools and could have been a classmate with Neil DeGrasse Tyson. He served an LDS mission in Chicago, and also served honorably in the Army National Reserves.
Allen married Lucy Andus Baquillan in 1985. Allen and Lucy had two sons, David and Kevin, and a daughter, Jacqueline, who sadly was killed in a tragic car accident when she was just five months old. Though Allen and Lucy divorced several years later, they always remained good friends. Lucy has been a constant help and comfort to Allen as he dealt with his many health issues. She will always be our sister.
Allen’s sons were, by far, his greatest joy in life. All he ever wanted was for them to be happy and healthy, and he gave all he could to help them.
Allen loved learning, was very well-read, and had an impressive memory. We all relied on him for recollections about our childhood. We might remember something that happened in a very general way, but he always retained every detail and could tell the story in a very entertaining fashion. He also enjoyed genealogy and keeping up with what his nieces and nephews (and grandnieces and grandnephews) were up to. He was a kind and generous man.
Allen is survived by his two sons, David and Kevin, his ex-wife Lucy, his siblings Susan Harward, Valerie (Dale) Archuleta, Karen Willis and Jared Pyne, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and other extended family. He is preceded in death by his daughter Jacqueline, his parents, his brothers Bill and Kevin, his cousin and best friend Richard Lowe, and his grandparents.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 19th, 11:00 am at the Springville 9th ward (878 West Center Street), with visitation one hour prior.
