Beth (Averett) Larsen

January 12, 1928 — July 1, 2017

Our beloved mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend, Beth Averett Larsen of Mapleton, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 1, 2017. Beth was born on January 12, 1928 to Thomas and Bessie Averett of Springville. Beth was the youngest of 5 children and loved all of the attention that comes along with that. She graduated from Springville High School and went to BYU for one semester on a Drama Scholarship. During high school her heart was swept away by Ned J Larsen. They were married shortly after his return from service during WWII and began an amazing life journey together.

Beth and Ned spent their lives in Mapleton where they had 4 children: Kathie, Lynette, Richard and Alan. Richard died 12 days after his birth. Beth spent her early days of motherhood at home. Those days were filled with a lot of work and love. She later worked as a lunch lady for Mapleton Elementary for 25 years. Along with her busy days at school, she worked alongside her husband and their family on the farm. Whether it was driving the truck, making the meals, or keeping up with her grandkids, she did it all with a smile on her face. Her family was her pride and joy. She is known for being extremely social and would make friends with anyone that would give her a minute of their time. And during that minute she would brag about her family and how blessed she felt to have them. Beth welcomed all into her home, made them meals, offered a place to sleep and entertained at every opportunity. She was an active member of the LDS Church where she served in every capacity with her whole heart. She loved Diet Coke, Joe Banditos, pralines and cream ice cream, traveling whenever someone rattled the keys, BYU football, singing and yodeling, sleepovers, writing all things in rhyme, and reading books. Beth was the greatest example of unconditional love, charity, faith, endurance, service, and laughter. She was one of a kind and will surely be missed by all who knew her.

Beth is survived by 3 children: Kathie (Ken) Lee of Springville, Lynette (Michael) Magliocco of Georgia, Alan (Kathy) Larsen of Texas, and 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and one brother, Lamar Averett. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ned, her infant son, Richard Ned, her grandson, Tyler Magliocco, great granddaughter, Olivia Marie Hansen, brothers: Clyde Averett and Harold Averett, and sister: Leona Wilson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Harvest Park Church, 774 S. 1600 W. in Mapleton at 11 a.m. Friends and family may call Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville, and one hour prior to services on Friday. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. Condolences may be sent at www.wheelermortuaires.com.
