Beverly Jean (Nelson) Harris

September 19, 1931 — May 20, 2017

Beverly Jean Nelson Smeath Harris passed away at her home in Springville on Saturday, May 20, at the age of 85.  She was born September 19, 1931 in Paris, Idaho to Hortense Beck and Roscoe C Nelson.  She was raised in Provo, Utah, the oldest of 8 children.
Beverly married J Boyd Smeath on February 1, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple.  They were blessed with 5 children.  They later divorced.  She married Wilford Harris on September 12, 1981 and they spent 35 happy years together.
As a young mother, Beverly was active in the PTA, the 4H society, and the Lion's club. She spent many hours at her children's schools and helping them with their various projects. Plagued with poor health most of her life, she always found the strength for the things that were important to her.  She was an active member of the LDS faith and served in numerous callings.
Beverly was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.  She was devoted to her family and always so proud of everything they did.  She was a wonderful seamstress, spending countless hours at her sewing machine, quilting, embroidering and crocheting.  So many people have been the recipients of wonderful gifts handmade by Bev.  She loved to talk and visit with people, and had many friends who loved her for her kindness and the feelings of genuine empathy she felt for them.  She will be deeply missed.  She will always be a part of us and we will hold her in our hearts forever.
Beverly is survived by her husband Wilford Harris, children Brad (Jeanne) Smeath, Jill (Brad) VanAusdal, Jackie (Mike) Bulow, and Jodi (Kirby) Crompton; stepchildren Gene (Marie) Harris, and Colette (Jim) Olsen; 32 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter Susan Felix, her sister Lourene Mehl and her brother Rick Nelson.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Hobble Creek West Stake Center at 555 South Averett Ave. in Springville.  There will be a viewing held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville at Friday at the Stake Center one hour prior to the services.  Condolences may be sent at www.wheelermortuaries.com
