Beverly Jean (Finch) Nilsson

September 12, 1930 — January 2, 2019

Beverly Jean Finch Nilsson was born on September 12, 1930 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Fred F. Finch and Mary Isabelle Henderson. Beverly passed away peacefully in the early hours of the morning of January 2, 2019 at her home in Springville, Utah. She was 88 years old.
Her parents later divorced and her mother later married Herman Hiram Pawley and moved to Redding California, where she attended grade school through two years of High School before moving to Seattle Washington for her Junior and Senior years of schooling where she graduated from Franklin High School. She attended Brigham Young University for one year and then graduated from Virginia Masion Hospital Nursing School in 1953 with a degree in Registered Nursing.
She later met her husband, Bruce Ray Nilsson at a summer dance at BYU and on November 23, 1960 she and Bruce were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They had 4 beautiful children. Her firstborn and only daughter was RaeJean who was born prematurely and passed away just 6 hours after her birth. Three sons followed, Cory, Darrin and Wade.
Beverly had many responsibilities in life and was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Relief Society Presidency, as a secretary in the Primary Presidency and many other callings. Beverly loved literature and taught a literature class for 7 years and was the President of the Literary Guild in American Fork, Utah from 1997-1998. Beverly was also very involved in Family History and served in the Family History Center in American Fork for many years.
Her career as a nurse was fulfilling to her. She worked as a staff nurse at American Fork Hospital for 19 years caring for many patients and their families and training new nurses. Many who still remember and honor her to this day. She also assisted in opening the Rehabilitation Unit at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and worked there for 5 years before retiring.
She survived breast cancer and colon cancer and is a great example to her family and those who know her of being faithful and enduring to the end.
In most recent years she lived in Springville Utah to be closer to her oldest son Cory and his wife Kirstin where they were able to assist her and her husband Bruce in their aging years. Her son Darrin has been her "roommate" for the past year and a half to further assist Beverly as her hearing and sight rapidly declined.
Some of her greatest joys were her grandchildren and she loved being a part of their lives.
