Dr. Robert Lee Holley

April 25, 1929 — September 8, 2017

Dr. Robert Lee Holley, Mapleton, passed peacefully to the other side on September 8, 2017. Robert was born to Glen and Arlena Holley in Mapleton on April 25, 1929.
He attended schools in Springville where he excelled in his studies. He served a mission for the LDS church in Hawaii, spending most of it in the small town of Hana. He loved the people, the culture and the language of Hawaii. He graduated from BYU. While there he met and married Wanda Taylor of Spanish Fork. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 1, 1954. Bob and Wanda moved to Washington DC, where he got his doctoral degree in dentistry from Georgetown. Upon graduating he joined the Air Force and was stationed at Beale Air Force Base in California.
After serving as a Captain in the Air Force he set up his dental practice in Yuba City, CA where many lifelong friendships were made. As his parents aged he found the need to move closer. In 1976 the family moved to Sandy, UT where they lived until retirement.
He loved studying the gospel and served in many church callings throughout his life including bishop, bishopric counselor, high priest group leader and high councilman.
Bob loved his family. He was preceded in death by his daughter Julia Harman, son in law Mark Harman, his parents, and his brothers Russell and Lum. He is survived by his wife of 63 years and his children Robert and Hyun Sook Holley, South Korea, Shelley and Stuart Tholen, South Weber, David and Jerie Holley, Millcreek, Richard and Danette Holley, Draper, James and Lynn Holley, Herriman, Wesley and Shannon Holley, Mapleton, Michael and Kathy Holley, Sandy, and Laurie and Tucker Hatch, Snohomish, WA, 36 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Colleen Thatcher (Stan), Mapleton.
A viewing will be held at Monday September 11 at Wheeler Mortuary, Mapleton from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday September 12 at the LDS Legacy chapel, 1050 N 300 W, Mapleton at 11 am. A viewing will also be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Springville, UT.
