Gay (Whiting) Law

Gay Whiting Law, 80, of Mapleton, Utah passed away April 12, 2019, at Osmond Senior Living in Salt Lake City. Born December 26, 1938, in Mapleton, Utah, she is predeceased by her parents, Victor and Maud (Bentley) Whiting of Mapleton, Utah, her late husband of 33 years, Newell Law of Payson, Utah, and her son Griffin.

Gay graduated from Springville High School in 1957 and was married to Newell that same year. She lived for a short time in New Jersey while Newell served in the Army. She then moved back to Mapleton where she raised her family with her husband. She was a talented artist and loved to do oil paintings. She also loved to China paint. She took a job working in the bakery at a local grocery store as a cake decorator. After the death of her husband in 1990 she took a job as a receptionist in a doctor’s office. After retiring she enjoyed working in her yard, travelling, and visiting her family.

Survivors include her two children, Guy (Olya) Law of Saratoga Springs, Utah, and Rani (Gerry) Li of South Jordan, Utah, her sister Leah (Murray) Skinner, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A viewing for family and friends will be held Tuesday evening, April 16, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Mapleton North Stake Center Chapel located at 475 North 1600 West, Mapleton, Utah. A viewing will be held at the same location from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral services.
