Idonna (Olsen) Anderson

August 20, 1932 — August 9, 2019

Idonna Olsen Anderson was born August 20, 1932 in Emery, Utah to Jorgen Olsen and Oleva Keele Olsen. She spent her childhood in the rural farming community of Emery and the coal mining camps of Spring Canyon, Utah. She met and married LaMar Anderson and soon after their marriage, our father was drafted into the military service. Mom followed with him to California where they would spend the next few years close to the ocean making great memories and plans for their future. Idonna spent most of her married life in Springville, Utah and was a devoted homemaker and wonderful parent to her four children. She also lovingly cared for two foster children before her own children began arriving into their home.
Mom had a remarkable memory with the ability to keep track of all of the children's and grandchildren's birthdays and anniversaries, making sure each received an individual and personal gift. After her kids were grown, mom took on a new job opportunity with the Nebo District School Lunch Program. She often mentioned that she enjoyed her job and the people that she worked with each day.
Idonna loved travel and enjoyed the many adventures that she and LaMar experienced together. A favorite activity was taking a drive to visit her many friends and family members. Perhaps it was because of her youth's humble circumstances that she often sought out as her friends those among us that were less fortunate. She loved to share her talents of painting ceramics, needlepoint works of art, and cooking delicious meals for her family.
Idonna's marriage to LaMar lasted for more than 60 years until his death in 2011. Most recently she has spent the last few years of her life living in Santaquin Utah where she was tenderly cared for at the Seasons of Santaquin care center. Our family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone there for their patient and gentle care for our mother.
Idonna was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Fawn Hersh and Leah Olsen. She is survived by her sister, Colleen McKenzie, her children. Brent (Heidi), Sheldon (Annette), Lisa Thorpe (RK), and Matthew (Kellie),15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
