Ilene (Alvey) Coffman

February 3, 1931 — August 24, 2017

Ilene Alvey Coffman age 86 of Springville passed away on August 24, 2017. She was born February 3, 1931 in Escalante, Utah to Jennings Hosea and Ila Davis Alvey. She married Jacob Earl Coffman on March 12, 1960 in the St. George Temple. He preceded her in death December 24,1994

She graduated from Escalante High School and Seminary and went to work for Bryce Canyon National Park until she left on her LDS mission to the Northern States Mission in 1958. She served in the cities of Naperville and Joliet Illinois, and Davenport, Iowa. She returned home and dated Earl and later married in the St. George Utah Temple. They lived in Springville most of their married life where they raised their 3 children. Throughout their marriage, Ilene and Earl would spend a lot of time together going for rides in the truck. Ilene was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for 50 years where she would teach lessons. She loved to cook and would make all kinds of cookies, bread, cakes and pies. She served many callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Primary and Relief Society. She also enjoyed visiting teaching and going to visit those who needed a visit, and would stop missionaries at the store to give them money. She served in the baptistry of the Provo, Utah Temple for 8 years. She worked for Nebo School District as a lunch worker at the Springville Jr. High for 15 years. She loved to do puzzles, read murder mystery books, and was known to always have a joke or riddle to brighten your day.

Ilene is survived by her three children: Ila May (Mike) Eggleston of Spanish Fork; J Earl (Chris) Coffman of Provo; David Lynn (Nancy) Coffman of Salem; and 9 most loved and talked about grandchildren; Laura, Devin, Amanda, Meagan, Emily, Justin, Eric, Brandon, and Trevor. She was preceded in death by her husband.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 11 am in the Spring Creek 12th Ward Chapel located at 235 East 550 North in Springville. Friends and family may call Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville or Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aids of Parkway Health Center and Encompass Hospice for the kindness, respect and care they showed Mom and her family, especially during her last days.
