Jimmy Clark Peay, 82, passed away on November 12, 2017 of causes incident to age and from injuries suffered from a motorcycle accident over 10 years ago. He was born July 15, 1935 to Murray Dean Peay and Wanda Clark Peay. He married Ila LaRene Naylor on April 4, 1958 and later their marriage was solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple on March 6, 1982. He is survived by his four children, Craig (Darin) Peay; Jo Ann (Buck) Gashler; Robert (Susie) Peay and Julie (Ben) Schofield, his sister Sally Dalton plus 12 grandchildren.
After high school, Jim joined the United States Army where he served primarily in West Germany. Upon returning from military service, he owned and operated Peay’s Market, a neighborhood grocery store in Springville, Utah. He instilled a strong work ethic in his children and showed them the values of hard work, loyalty, accountability and perseverance.
Jim’s family was the primary focus of his life. He spent many hours supporting their interests and playing with his grandchildren. Jim had many hobbies; he enjoyed playing competitive golf, fishing, and showing Arabian horses. He also enjoyed family camping trips to Island Park and Canada along with fishing trips to Alaska. The family would especially like to thank the staff at the Mervyn Sharp Bennion Veteran Home in Payson, Utah for its excellent care to our father during his last year of life.
A one hour viewing will be held on Saturday, November 18 at 10:00 AM prior to the services, which will be held at 11:00 AM at Wheeler Mortuary, located at 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah.
