Julian Terry Reid

January 12, 1944 — January 9, 2019

Julian Terry Reid, Terry as everyone knew him; was born to Samuel Robert Reid & Lois Muriel Wilds in Toronto Ontario, Canada on January 12, 1944. His father was American and his mother Canadian. In 1957 when he was 13 years old, his family moved to Lynwood, California. 2 years later, they moved to Hemet, California where he graduated High School in 1962. In 1961, his whole family was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After High School, Terry went to Brigham Young University for 2 years. He served an honorable LDS mission in Northern Ireland for 2 years and was one of the first LDS missionaries to serve in southern Ireland. Terry enjoyed his time in Ireland and came to greatly love the area and people.

Terry enlisted in the Marines right after his mission in 1966. He originally was going to join the Navy but when he saw that the line for the Marines was shorter, he went over to their line. He served 3 different tours to Vietnam and also spent 1 year in Alaska as a Game Warden, totaling 13 years of service in the Marines.

He had many callings in the LDS church. When he lived in California, he served as 2nd counselor in the Bishopric and then 1st counselor in 29 Palms, California. While in Okinawa, Japan, he served as Branch President over the LDS Branch there. Terry & Barbara served as Branch Missionaries for about a year in Borrego Springs, California.

Between Terry & Barbara they were blessed with 7 children. They have 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. May of 2019 would have been 30 years of marriage for them. Terry & Barbara moved to Utah in 2005. They sold all of their rental properties that they owned and managed and bought a lovely house in Springville, Utah. Terry really enjoyed taking care of the yard. He also loved to work with wood and could build just about anything. Since a young age, he had a love for model trains. Through the years he was able to share that love for trains with his children, grandchildren, and may others around him. He maintained a model train club at the Developmental Center in American Fork, Utah and loved working with them quite regularly.

Terry is survived by his loving wife Barbara; 6 children Kaelene (Joe), Stewart, Stephen (Heather), Travis (Shauna), Kristine, & Craig (Floris); and his sister Lynda (Stephen); 17 grandchildren, and 14 great grand children. He was preceded in death by his son Sean, his grandson Ryan, and his parents Samuel & Lois.

We would like to express our love and gratitude to the Central Utah Veterans home in Payson, Utah for loving him and taking such good care of him for the time that he was there.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 495 S.
