Lisa Ann (Moon) Cox

May 24, 1965 — February 24, 2019

Born to inspire everyone she came in contact with, to live up to their greatest potential, Lisa Ann Moon-Cox returned back home on Sunday, February 24, 2019, while holding the hand of her eternal sweetheart, Mark Cox. Lisa had an unusual zest for life and she loved adventure in all of its forms; whether it be hiking, traveling the world, or reading about other people and places. With a love for learning, she took on every part of life with unusual enthusiasm.

Lisa was born in May of 1965 in Twin Falls, Idaho. She moved with her family to Salt Lake City during grade school and graduated from Anchor Christian Academy in Cottonwood, Utah in 1983. Lisa joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a young adult and attended the University of Utah, majoring in theater and performing arts. Lisa married Wayne Eskelson in her mid-twenties. They were later divorced, but remained good friends. With an amazing and magnetic personality and penchant for drama and comedy, She was recruited to work in Hollywood and was involved in such projects as the X-files, NYPD Blue, Touched by an Angel, Meet the Deedles, Murder on 75 Birch and several and other film credits. She later stepped away from that industry to focus more fully on being a mother to Kori Shawnteah and Dalton and staying true to her faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Motherhood was and is her greatest joy and her magnum opus. Lisa also excelled in the Mary Kay cosmetic world during this time, achieving four cars including a pink Cadillac and rock star-status; but her focus was always on her family and our Savior Jesus Christ.

Lisa met Mark in 2005, and they were married on February 26, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Lisa had joyously accepted Mark’s sons from previous marriage and bonded very closely with them; especially Ryan, who she considers her own son. Lisa loved the outdoors. She loved a great campfire and to cook over the open flame. She considers any mountain without quakies or pines to be substandard and unworthy of her efforts with the possible exception of Zions National Park. She especially loved American Fork canyon and spent many days there, hiking by herself, connecting with nature and her Father in Heaven. Lisa’s unusual luminescence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

One of the highlights of Lisa’s life is an indescribable, compelling drive she felt to live in the southern states. In her words, “I’m a southern Belle, and that’s not southern Utah!” This dynamic stress led Mark and Lisa to Nashville Tennessee, where they enjoyed the culture and hospitality of true southern living. While there, by unexplainable miracles, they were blessed with three wonderful children, which quenched the burning fire within her to live in the South. After having these 3 little Angels, Mark and Lisa decided to come back to Utah so they could raise their children near family and a strong LDS culture. It turns out that the powerful drive, embedded in Lisa’s soul, was to mother and care for three sweet souls she and Mark found waiting for them in the heart of the south, Nashville Tennessee. She gave those children a tremendous foundation of education in the gospel of Jesus Christ, in personal relationships, personal development, and a love for life and adventure along with a strong dose of etiquette and respect for others and self. Mark will be hard-pressed to keep up the very high standard Lisa has set in raising these children, but has committed to do his very best.

Lisa has held many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but her favorite was teaching the scriptures to children and teens. She had an uncanny knack of inspiring passion for the scriptures in others. Lisa is survived by her husband Mark W. Cox, children: Kori Shawnteah Eskelson of Logan, Dalton Aaron (Jamie) Eskelson of Ogden, Ryan Arthur Cox of Bountiful, Cody Mark (Rachel) Cox of Cedar City, Kory Mark Cox of Los Angeles, CA, Bryce Jacob Cox of Bountiful and her little ones: Caison Moon Cox, Tristan Rae Moon Cox, Trinity Charlotte Cox. She is also survived by her parents, Eugena Rae and Stan Moon, as well as siblings Jason (Birgit) Moon, Dena Moon Clinger, Stanton Moon, Colin Reed Moon, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
