R. Floyd Duke

July 3, 1943 — September 11, 2017

Richard Floyd Duke, 74, completed his earthly journey and returned home to loving arms on September 11, 2017. He was born July 3, 1943 to Paul and Elsie Duke. He was the third of six children.
Floyd was an avid scouter spending many of his young years earning his Eagle Scout. He graduated from Provo High School in 1961. Floyd enlisted in the Navy and faithfully served our country for six years stationed on the U.S.S. Midway. Floyd met his sweetheart of 51 years, Karen Randall, shortly after. They were married July 8, 1966. They were later sealed in the Provo Temple on May 10, 1980. Floyd was a dedicated family man. He and Karen raised four children. Floyd served as an officer for Springville Police Department for 10 years then spent 6 years as a volunteer EMT. He worked at Trojan Explosives for 20 years after which he retired. Floyd loved the outdoors. He spent many days camping, hunting, and fishing in Diamond Fork Canyon. Floyd had an unconditional love for his grandchildren and was happiest in their company.
Floyd is preceded in death by his Parents- Elsie and Paul Duke, his sisters- Pauline Fisher, Emma Jean Porter, Christina Roberts, his brothers- Lyman Duke, Michael Duke, his daughter Shauna Marie Mansfield, and his grandson Samuel Singleton. He is survived by his wife- Karen Randall Duke, his children, Sheri (Jon) Beck, Amy (Samuel) Singleton, and Allen (Melanie) Duke, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 1230 South 500 East in Springville. There will be a viewing held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville and on Friday at the chapel one hour prior to the services.
