Rula Ann (Greaves) Nielsen

June 30, 1930 ~ August 15, 2018 (age 88)

Rula Ann Greaves Nielsen returned to her Heavenly Father surrounded by her family at her home on August 15. She was born in Ephraim, Utah on June 23, 1930 to Gwendolyn Anderson and Sheldon Greaves. Rula was married to her sweetheart Andrew (Jim) Nielsen on September 30, 1949 and they were later sealed in the Manti Temple on March 19, 1951.

Rula’s hobbies included handwork, quilting, and all sewing projects. She sewed over 180 denim quilts which she gave away to family, friends, and neighbors. She enjoyed baking. Many were recipients of her famous homemade rolls. She enjoyed canning, especially different types of pickles.

Rula dearly loved her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many capacities and callings. She enjoyed her many years of service in the Relief Society, but loved her time serving as activity days leader. Those girls are now grown but over the years, many have stayed in contact with her. Rula worked many years in retail sales where she again created lifelong relationships. But, her favorite job was working with the children as a teacher’s assistant at Brookside Elementary.

Rula is survived by her five children: Sheldon of St. George; Steven (Annette) of Mapleton; Kenneth (Debra) of Springville; Cathy of Springville; Ronald (DeAnn) of Mapleton; 23 grandchildren, and 45 great-grandchildren with one expected in January. She is also, survived by her youngest sister, Val Gividen of Orem, and brother Stan Tippetts of Orem. She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, step-father, A.I. Tippetts, two sisters, Winona Erickson and Madge Anderson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 20, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Springcreek 6th Ward LDS Chapel located at 860 East 200 North Springville, Utah. Viewings will be held on Sunday evening, August 19, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah and from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
