Afton Faye Buckley Condie

Born 13 JAN 1936 in Montpelier Idaho

Passed away 18 JUL 2026 in Springville Utah

She was 90 years old.

90 laps around the sun, that’s quite enough for me

Said the last leaf of her generation, releasing her mortal tree.

The doctor called it cancer, Mom called it her ticket out.

Just let the cancer do its thing, we’ll take the hospice route

To I Care Hospice staff, we offer genuine praise,

For help guiding our Mom through those really challenging days.

You kept her so peaceful and free from all pain,

A comfort that words cannot fully explain.

The fifth of Bill and Cecelia Buckley, Cokeville her childhood home

Always a Wyoming native, where the deer and the antelope roam

At a college dance in Laramie, no longer a high school girl

She took a bit of convincing, but eventually, fell in love with Earl

Marry me dear, let’s do life together he proposed to Afton Buckley,

She shook her head no and responded in kind, “I don’t think my Mom will let me”

But marry they did and for 64 years they built their happily ever after

Together again , never to part, Eternity is their next chapter.

Multiply and replenish, was a scripture these two took to heart

5 sons and 2 daughters later, they agreed, they’d done their part

She raised her seven in Evanston, a hard working mother and wife

Giving her time in the service of others, and dealing with day to day life

Grandkids eventually showed up, totalling 30 in number

her 55th great grandchild is scheduled, to join the family this Summer

Faith is important to Mom, endure to the end, walk and not faint

She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints

Missionary service called them, not once, not twice but for three

Serving in Argentina, the Orlando Temple and here in the MTC

Music was also a big part of her life, always up for an inspiring tune

She mastered with limited vision, the masterpiece Clair de lune

Avoiding an idle station, something to do and something to be built

Mom kept herself busy and productive, sewing or tying a quilt

Abuela's house was the gathering place for chimes, card games and fun

A backyard swing, a walnut tree and a yard that is second to none.

Love is key, we’re all family, and today we honor our Mother

And as our Savior loves us, we should love one another

You did good Mom, 90 laps is a lot, you finished your mortal race

Now enjoy your rest, in the arms of the Lord, and bask in His amazing grace

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 860 East 200 North, Springville, Utah. Viewings for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026 at Wheeler & Sundberg Funeral Homes, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah and from 9:00-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026 before the services at the church. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
