Alauna (Huff) Tucker

November 17, 1952 — July 29, 2018

Alauna Huff Tucker passed away on July 29, 2018. She was born on November 17, 1952 in Provo, UT to Lynn "Shorty" and LaRue Losee Huff.

From childhood and into adulthood she was recognized as an accomplished pianist, providing accompaniment for singers, theatrical productions, weddings, and church functions. At the age of 12 she began teaching piano lessons and continued to do so throughout her life. She also took particular pride in winning a citywide hopscotch tournament in elementary school.  Alauna was well known for her dynamic personality and academic abilities. She was beautiful, funny, talented, and driven, always making new and lifelong friends. She excelled at debate and public speaking and cherished her time at Springville High School before graduating in 1971.

In 1974, she married her best friend Daryl Tucker in the Provo Temple, and together they raised 5 exceptional children. She loved to brag about their achievements and their good hair. A dedicated member of the LDS Church, Alauna served in numerous capacities and especially loved her many years as Primary song leader. Always ambitious and productive in the community, she found her special calling as the librarian of Mapleton Elementary School where she was admired for her creativity, special connection with children, and contagious passion for books.

Her creativity extended into her home, which she adorned with impeccable taste and decor, including a unique collection of antiques, Santa figures, and other curiosities. Her limitless talents included sewing, gardening, hosting parties, and making home a special place.  Alauna enjoyed acting on stage with her husband and children. Her favorite performances included Glinda in The Wizard of Oz, Miss Maudie in To Kill a Mockingbird, and Lily Belle in The Curious Savage. She had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh with her sharp wit and clever costumes.

Despite many years of health struggles, she spread love and found joy in petting dogs, drinking Coke, eating chocolate (especially Junior Mints), and reminiscing about her family, friends, and positive memories. An excellent conversationalist, Alauna strived to make others feel important and loved. Her generosity extended to all, but especially to children and those in need. She will miss her Friday hair appointments where she engaged in hilarious conversations with her loyal friend Colene Miner. She always reminded others to smile, celebrate, be kind, and savor life.

She is preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law and is survived by her husband; her children Cheris Erickson (Andy), Kelly Jeppson (Jared), Jesse Tucker (Becky), Haley Higgins (Bryce), and Madelyn Pawlowski (Ben); her 9 grandchildren; her siblings Kathy Kohler (Tom), Michael Huff (Carol), and Sheree Jacobson; a large extended family and countless friends.
