Armelle Silva Gomez

December 13, 1938 — June 27, 2024

Springville

Armelle Silva Gomez of Springville, Utah, passed away peacefully in her home on June 27, 2024. She was born on December 13, 1938, to Alvaro Silva Ramirez and Evelia Gomez Solano. She was the oldest of six siblings: Armelle (Mey), Fabiola (Bolita), Alejandro (Jani), Yvonne (Bombas), Silvia (Chilflas), and Gloria (Yoyita).  She is survived by two siblings, Fabiola and Alejandro, and her daughter, Iliana. She was the beloved grandmother of three grandchildren: Jackie, Sammy, and Samuel, and the great-grandmother of four precious angels: Sofia, Lucia, Ryan, and Mia. She was especially delighted to hold Mia, her newest great-grandchild, who is just two weeks old. Her grandchildren affectionately called her “Foca.”

Armelle was born in Paris, France, while her father was on assignment there for a year. The family then returned to Mexico, where she lived in various locations near Mexico City. As a child, Armelle loved to play pretend supermarket, and at the age of 15, she achieved her dream job by working in a real supermarket. She was a business woman and would confidently share her expertise with others, even in a language she was barely learning.

Armelle was cherished wherever she went, whether at school, work, in the community, or within her family. She had an infinite capacity to love and embraced everyone as her own kin. She was known for giving tender, personalized, and creative nicknames to those she loved. She had a tender heart for anyone who suffered, whether family, neighbors, people across the globe, or small animals. She was always concerned with what mattered to others and tirelessly sought solutions to their problems.

Armelle was known for her grateful heart in all circumstances. At the age of 49, she embraced the gospel of Jesus Christ and was baptized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served the Lord diligently in various capacities, including serving in the Mexico City Temple for 10 years and another 10 years between the Provo Utah Temple and the Provo City Center Temple.

She had a wonderfully creative mind and a great taste for decoration. Armelle never took “no” for an answer; she would pursue different options or persistently ask until a solution was found or an exception was made.

The lives of Armelle’s posterity will be forever impacted by her decision and dedication to send her daughter, Iliana, to an American, English-speaking school in the heart of Mexico City. From there stemmed their introduction to the gospel of Jesus Christ, the desire to move to America, and the many blessings that have continued to flow since.

Armelle’s legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the church located at 245 South 600 East in Springville with a viewing from 12:30 to 1:30 prior to the services. Interment will follow in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
