Betty Fon Guymon Diamond passed away peacefully on August 23, 2017 at the age of 94.
Betty was born on November 29,1922 in Ucon, Idaho to John Henry and Alice Ivy Curtis Guymon. At the age of 8 she moved to Provo, Utah where she attended Park Elementary School and Farrer Jr. High. She moved to Springville in 1934 where she met her future husband and graduated from SHS in 1940.
Betty married Fred J. Diamond on June 27,1941 in Springville, Utah and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 16,1945 while Fred was on leave from WW II. They enjoyed 60 years together before Fred's passing in 2001.
Betty had a strong testimony of the Gospel and especially of the power of prayer. She was an active member of the LDS church where she served in many capacities. Her favorite, teaching the 10-11 yr. old girls in Primary which she did for many, many years. She and Fred served as stake missionaries and temple workers together. Betty was a faithful visiting teacher.
Betty was employed by Nebo School District as a lunch lady at the old Westside School. All the students loved her as she was in charge of the desserts. Many wonderful friendships were made during those years.
Betty was a member of Camp Cottonwood in the DUP for 45 years where she served as captain and in many other positions.
She was one of the remaining members of two clubs that met together monthly for over 50 years. One was the "Bood Club" made up of high school friends and the other club made up of friends and neighbors.
Betty and Fred loved to square dance and traveled to many states to square dancing conventions. You would always find Betty by Fred's side supporting and helping him in all his endeavors and interests.
Betty loved to travel and visit new places. Cruises and Hawaii were her favorite!!! She was always ready for a trip and a Wendy's Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger with a Diet Coke.
Betty was blessed with the wonderful talent of playing the piano by ear. She had a remarkable memory and was always reciting funny little song and poems.
Her husband, Fred and their son, Danny, preceded Betty in death. Also proceeded in death by two grandsons; Jed Diamond and Dustin Diamond. She is survived by 4 sons and 1 daughter; Milt Diamond [Cynthia) - Magna, Ron Diamond (Lynnette) -Santaquin, Phil Diamond (Shirlee) - Salem, Blair Diamond - Provo, and Sara Anderson (Morgan), Springville. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Her brother, Clifton Guymon of Sebastopol, California and two sisters-in-law - Phyllis Diamond Allan of St. George, Utah, and Jessie Diamond of New York, also survive her.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 55 North Main Street in Springville. There will be a viewing held at the chapel one hour prior to the services.
