Obituary for Betty Nadeen Nelson
Betty Nadeen Nelson passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on January 23, 2018 in Springville, Utah. Our Aunt Betty was the youngest child and only daughter of Fred Theodore Nelson and Matilda Pauline Hoffman. She was born on November 9, 1928 in Ogden, Utah. Her early childhood was spent in Widtsoe, Utah and at the age of ten, she moved to Salina, Utah. In Salina she loved growing up on her father’s dairy farm and riding horses. After high school, she began working at Mountain Bell as a telephone operator. In 1951, her beloved mother passed away. Being such a mamma’s girl, this changed the course of her life and she decided to move to Provo where she continued working as telephone operator at Mountain Bell. She had a successful and fulfilling career at Mountain Bell holding many positions until she retired in 1988.
Betty loved her nieces and nephews. She especially loved their children and showered them with affection. She had a special love for animals and always had dogs. If you were one of Betty’s dogs, you had a better life than most people. She was loyal to all her friends and family. If she loved you, you could do no wrong in her eyes.
She was proceeded in death by her mother and father; brother Bobbie Hoffman Nelson and his wife Barbara Jane Nelson; and brother Boyd W Nelson and his wife Lorraine Nelson. She is survived by her special companion Hugh Gardner; nephews Michael Nelson (Barbara), Rocky Nelson (Shonnie), Gary Nelson (Velta); and nieces Carma Sorenson (Scott) and Jeanie Nelson. She is also survived by seventeen grand nieces and nephews and their families.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Ashford Assisted Living for their loving care of our Aunt Betty.
In accordance with her wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date through Wheeler Mortuary in Springville, Utah.
