Bryan Showgren

April 4, 1973 — June 18, 2007

There aren't many people who come along in life about whom it can truly be said that everybody who come in contact with them was the better for it. Bryan Showgren was one of those individuals. Bryan was called back to his Heavenly Father on Monday, June 18 at the age of 34, after touching more lives than can be counted. He was born on April 4, 1973 in San Jose, California. He and his twin brother Ryan surprised their parents by showing up 11 weeks early. Ryan only spent 20 hours on this earth while Bryan exceeded everyone's expectations.

Bryan moved to Utah and grew up in Provo and Mapleton. He loved attending Oakridge School and being in Mrs. Shelley's class with many other children who also had Cerebral Palsy. Over the years Bryan had many interests but those that were at the top of the list were his Grandma Orton and talking on the phone. Bryan developed a deep love for the Utah Jazz and could only be classified as a raving fan. The only time anyone ever saw Bryan cross was when someone got between him and the television when the Jazz game was on, even when they were losing. In recent years Bryan enjoyed participating in the day services program and attending LDS Institute at UVSC.

Everyone who knew Bryan will forever remember the unconditional love he had for everyone he met, his sense of humor, the way he loved to giggle with his many nieces and nephews, and the way he loved to tease. He loved his mother more than you could know and loved spending time with her.

Bryan is survived by his father and mother, Eric and Sally, and 5 brothers and sisters, Lori (Mike) Elquist, Glenn (Allison), Brett (Amber), Jeremy and Emily, 3 nieces, 8 nephews, and more cousins, aunts and uncles than can be listed. He was preceded in death by his twin brother Ryan, his grandparents, Glenn and Iris Orton and Eric and Phyllis Showgren, and one of his favorite uncles, John.

A viewing will be held at Wheeler Mortuary, 82 West 400 North in Mapleton on Thursday evening, June 21st, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. There will be a graveside service at Springville's Evergreen Cemetery on Friday, June 22nd at 11:00 a.m. Bryan hated funerals but would want all his friends and family to come for the brief service.
