Buenaventura Mendoza, 78, of Spanish Fork, passed away on Monday, February 7th, 2022. She was born on July 14,1943 in Toliman-Jalisco, Mexico to Aurelio Mora and Jacinta Rodriguez. She married Emilio Mendoza in1964. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2019.
In 1987, Buenaventura and Emilio became members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and were sealed as a family in the Mexico City Temple.
Buenaventura, which translates to "Great Adventure", began a "great adventure" in her life, when she married Emilio Mendoza Lopez! Together they had ten children. They lost their eleventh child in pregnancy. Buenaventura was obviously a very busy wife and home-maker for many years. She loved to cook and was known for her culinary excellence! In other words, she was a fantastic cook! She was also known in the family and in her community as a "healer". Everybody would seek her out to help them to feel better and heal faster. She also loved dancing and was the life of every family party! She would always dance the night away in her five-inch heels!
Buenaventura is survived by her ten children: David Uribe, Roberto Mendoza, Adriana Mendoza, Rosa Morales, Jaime Mendoza, Luisa Mendoza, Nohemi O' Neill, America Carpenter, Esmeralda Mendez and Marisol Sims; 27 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Buenaventura's funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 19th at 1:00pm at the LDS Chapel located at 761 E. 400 N. in Spanish Fork, Utah.
The viewing will be held for family and friends will be held Friday, February 18th from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville and on Saturday at the LDS Chapel from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. The burial will be held at the Spanish Fork Cemetery, immediately following the funeral.
