Carol Jacobson Stephen

St George, Utah - Carol Jacobson Stephen was born in the home of her parents Alma Evan Jacobson and Emma Bateman on January 7, 1932, in Springville, Utah. Carol passed away on December 15, 2023, in St. George, Utah at the age of 91. She was the youngest of four children, having an older sister and two brothers. Carol grew up in Springville and graduated from Springville High School. She played the baritone horn in the school orchestra and was a drum majorette in the marching band.

Carol attended Brigham Young University where she met Jay Clair Colver, and they were married on June 3, 1953. They had two boys and a girl. They divorced in 1982.  

Carol met Roy Stephen in the summer of 1982, and they dated and were married on December 11, 1982, in the Oakland Temple and lived in Moraga, California. Carol adored Roy and is looking forward to spending Eternity with him.

Carol was blessed to have many church callings. She was the Stake and Ward Relief Society President, Young Women's President, and Primary President. She and her husband Roy served in the Vietnamese Branch in Oakland, California for several years.

After retiring Carol and Roy were called to serve a full-time mission in Armenia in 1991. They were the first missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to serve in Armenia. After their mission they returned on three other occasions and they have lived in Armenia total of about four years while they made their home in St. George, Utah.

Carol loved her children and especially her 25 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Roy Stephen of St. George, Utah; her children: Kevin (Shannon) Colver, Elk Ridge, Utah, Richard (Beverly) Colver, Edmond, Oklahoma, and Carie (Pete) Squires, Kennewick, Washington; her stepchildren: Tory (Elizabeth) Stephen, Christiansburg, Virginia, Mari (Howard) Duncan, Cabot, Arkansas and Tad (Heather) Stephen, Gilbert, Arizona.

The family wishes to thank Intermountain Homecare and Hospice for their wonderful care during this time. In addition, they are very grateful for the lovely care provided by Visiting Angels and especially Brittany Schwingdorf.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W St. George Blvd, St George, Utah

Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation prior from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at Wheeler Mortuary located at 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery located at 1997 South 400 East, Springville, Utah.
