Casey Rex Carlson, 52, of Santa Maria California, passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 18, 2024. He was born June 17th, 1972, in Payson, Utah, to Rex and Jane Carlson. He grew up in Springville in the Brookside neighborhood where he enjoyed playing and fishing in the creek behind his house. He graduated from Springville High School in 1990. He married Tara Lee on March 17th, 1993, in Salt Lake City who he is survived by.
Casey enjoyed hunting with his family as a teenager and later enjoyed the outdoors and shed hunting with his son CJ and other outdoor activities. He played baseball and loved the game. He had the opportunity to go with one of his little league teams to California and play in the West regionals. It is through baseball that he made some great friends and memories. He loved the game of golf, watching golf and other sports such as basketball, baseball and football.
He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology/science from Weber State University. He later got his master’s degree in hospital administration. He loved to help people and had the opportunity to work in several different hospitals in Utah, Colorado and California, recently at Stanford Children Hospital. He was currently the Senior Director, Imaging services and directed the efforts of over 120 medical professionals serving the needs of 250,000 patients on the Central Coast of California. In his role, Casey oversaw the imaging services of two Hospitals (Marian Regional and Arroyo Grande Community Hospital), three ambulatory imaging centers, and Mission Hope Cancer Center and was working towards being the COO of the hospital. Casey was a trusted and respected leader to his team, peers and senior leadership. He lived the values of caring for others and his impact will be long felt by many. He will most definitely be missed.
Casey is survived by his son CJ (Kailey) Carlson and grandson Aiden of Spanish Fork, Utah; his parents Rex and Jane Carlson of Springville Utah; His in-laws George and Elaine Lee of Fairview, Utah; siblings Shauna (Tim) Carlson, Tiffani (Dan) Richins, both from Springville; Tyler (Krystal) Carlson, of Spanish Fork and Christopher (Jennifer) Carlson, of Springville. In-laws Todd (Sarah) Lee of Fairview Utah, Craig Lee (Kevin) of Salt Lake Utah, Lisa (Robert) Avei of Highland Utah, Jason (Lisa) Lee of Millville Utah, Autumn (Jake) Ferguson of Saratoga Springs Utah, Gabe (Carrie) Lee of Saratoga Springs Utah, Ty (Ashley) Lee of Fairview Utah. Also, by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews on both sides. He is preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents and other family members.
A celebration of life will be held with family and close friends and a funeral service will be announced later. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to suicide prevention and mental health awareness.
