Our loving mother and grandmother Clara Bird Averett, age 93 passed away on December 1, 2018 in Springville, UT surrounded by her family. She was born October 3, 1925 in Springville, UT to William Arthur Bird and Mary Amelia Bryan Bird. She married the love of her life Gene Ruel Averett on August 10, 1944. Together throughout their 73 year marriage they built a legacy and an eternal example of love and devotion to four generations.
Clara was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many capacities. She spent numerous hours in the service of others. During Clara’s early years she created a bond with a circle of special women that she would go on to enjoy a lifelong friendship with. She had a passion for many things in life. She enjoyed time quilting, crocheting, birds, sweet peas, gardening, bottling, and baseball. She loved time spent with her family. She invested many hours into making memories that her posterity will forever cherish. Those special memories included many hours spent playing cards, sewing doll clothes, painting fingernails, and snuggling grandbabies. To those in her circle of influence she gave what matters most; time, attention, and love.
She is survived by her brother Dean Bird of Springville, and brother and sister in law Dean and Norma Averett of Lehi, children Larry (Maria) Averett of Springville, Art Averett of Salt Lake City, Lee (Cec) Averett of Price, and Ann (Rhett) Willmore of Springville; 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, six brothers, three sisters, a daughter in law, and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing prior at 10:00 a.m. for close friends and family to be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 4th N and 4th E Springville.
