Clyde W Cazier, our beloved husband, dad, grandpa and friend, left this life peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at the age of 81, surrounded by his family. He was born July 29, 1943 in Provo, Utah to Clyde Brown Cazier and Delna Hatch Cazier.
His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and Christlike service. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends and many more, whose lives he touched. He lived his life with love for the simple things; a beautiful sunrise, sunset, scenic view, things of nature, his friends, family and many animals. Clyde had a profound impact on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His family was his greatest treasure, and where he found his greatest joy.
Clyde graduated as a Red Devil from Springville High School where he met many lifelong friends and met the love of his life, Cheryl Smith Cazier. He played the clarinet in the school band and was voted best dressed male of his senior class; an award he humbly felt should have been awarded to his good friend Bud Gardner. He did not play high school sports, because Clyde always said a day spent on his horse was better than any high school sports event. He later attended Brigham Young University and followed BYU sports until his passing.
He married his wife Cheryl Smith on December 10,1964 and recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Together they built a beautiful life and raised two daughters in Springville and Mapleton. They are the parents of Adrian Douglas and Andraya (Brian) Hanchett. Together they have 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Dad cherished his title of Gramps; his time spent with grandchildren always brought him much joy and happiness for the coming days ahead. His hugs were genuine, and you felt his love when you were wrapped his arms.
Clyde started his career working in construction and sales, and later as a general contractor building duplexes and homes in the Springville/Mapleton area. He then took his passion of woodworking and started Custom Cabinetry by Clyde Cazier, which he ran successfully for over 40 years until retiring. Clyde’s woodworking skills were beyond compare; he was very particular and a perfectionist in his work. His skills landed him a contract for all cabinetry in a Woodland Hills home in the 1998 Utah Valley Parade of Homes, where he was awarded Outstanding Workmanship by the Utah Valley Home Builders Association. Clyde’s custom wood designs are treasures to all who are fortunate to have pieces of his work. He was personally very humble about his skills and talents, but was known to be a master of his craft, a true woodworking artist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Brown and Delna Cazier; his sister Bernetta and brother-in-law Bob Hurst; his sister Aldeen and brother-in-law Clark Palfreyman; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Albert Hasting and Lucille Smith; brother-in-law Boyd and Shirley Smith.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Smith Cazier, and two children, Adrian, Andraya (Brian) Hanchett; one sister, Ranee Thorpe (Paul); sister-in-law MaryAnn (Steve) Thoresen; 4 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and his cherished horse, Cam.
Dad will be remembered by his family for the life lessons he taught us all by his example. A favorite lesson being: Savor the moments in life that make your heart glow. Chase after and find the moments that will take your breath away. In the end, it is only those milestones on life’s journey that matter.
Per Dad’s request there will be no public viewing or funeral. A private family graveside service will be held at Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
We would like to thank iCare Home Health & Hospice and Spring Gardens Assisted Living in Mapleton for caring for Dad the last few months of his life.
Condolences may be expressed to the family on this page.
