Danny Glispy

January 13, 1941 — June 29, 2025

Mapleton, Utah

Danny R, Glispy, 84, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by loved ones, on June 29, 2025.

Born in Dragerton (East Carbon), Utah, on January 13, 1941, Danny’s life was one of services, skill, and adventure. After attending schools in Spanish Fork, including Spanish Fork High School and Landmark, he proudly served for three years in the U.S. Army. His strong work ethics led him to a career in mining, where he developed minds and worked in the uranium mines of Shirley Basin, Wyoming.

Danny’s courage was formally recognized when he received a commendations from the State of Arizona for his heroic actions during a rescue operation at the Lakeshore Min in August 1973. The commendation honors his “bravery, competence and devotion to duty” in the successful rescue of two trapped miners, noting his performance was “well above the normal performance expected of an individual.”

A true mechanic and tinkerer at heart, Danny had a lifelong passion for anything with an engine. For over 60 years, he loved working on and riding motorcycles. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and car shows and was a talented builder, creating custom vehicles including a ’66 Mustang, a 1936 Chevy pickup, a dragster, a ’76 VW trike, and a 1960s/70s model dune buggy. He also cherished his 2008 blue Mustang.

He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Shirley Annette; his previous wife, Cora Black; his daughters, Denise, Donna and Dianne; his brother, Roy Glispy; his step-children, Karrie Chatwin, Bill Mohler, Larry (Julie) Mohler, Tammy (Jeff) Van Ausdal, and Terry Chapman; and numerous beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Donny; and his brother, Jay Glispy.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Legacy Farms Park, located at 2325 E. Purple Sage Drive, Spanish Fork, Utah.
