Darlene (Rowley) Condie

December 19, 1935 — July 26, 2018

Darlene Rowley Condie was reunited with her eternal companion, Arthur Packard Condie, on Thursday, 26 July 2018. She was 82 years old. She was born 19 December 1935 to Nello James Rowley and Gladys Zella Giles.
Darlene was sealed to her sweetheart, Arthur Packard Condie, on 9 September 1957. Together they had eight children, Terri Lee (Brad), Arthur (Jan), Nello, Karen (John), Don (Michelle), Diane (Mike), Marie and Reed (Jen). They have a posterity of 20 grand-children and 26 great grand-children.
Darlene lived in Springville Utah most of her life. In her youth, she excelled at academics, music, softball and was a true “tom boy” playing sports and having fun with the guys in the neighborhood. She graduated from Springville High and BYU. She developed life-long friendships with many of her friends from her youth and throughout her life because she sincerely cared about people and they knew she loved them.
Darlene was an amazing woman. She was a do-it-yourselfer before that was popular. She could take something that others would consider garbage and turn it into a useful, functional item. She was a “handy-woman” and was incredibly creative in repurposing objects and creating with wood. Her home is filled with these objects and wood projects. She was incredibly thrifty and was always saving money for a rainy day and there were many of those.
She was incredibly unselfish—always thinking of the needs of her family and friends over her own. She cared for others and was always the first to be there if anyone needed anything. She lovingly cared for her parents and her mother-in-law in their older years. Darlene was a great example of “charity never faileth”.
She loved her family tremendously and enjoyed spending time with them above all else. She would light up when any of the family came to visit and enjoyed the family get togethers. She served her family with love always and she loved having them over for dinners and parties or going out to eat for their birthdays.
Many people were invited into the Condie home and became part of the family. Some came to live with Darlene and Packard for various reasons, and they were welcomed as a part of the family. Even those who rented the apartments from them became “adopted” children of Darlene and Packard. She genuinely loved and cared for them.
Darlene was a woman of great faith. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings throughout her life. She was a faithful visiting teacher, ministering to the needs of those she served. She served a full-time mission with her husband to the Tennessee Nashville mission. She served everyway she could.
When Darlene passed through the veil, she was likely greeted by those who preceded her in death, her eternal companion Arthur Packard Condie, her son Nello Rowley Condie, her parents Nello James Rowley and Gladys Zella Giles, her siblings Doris Rowley Thompson, Don Rowley, Dee Rowley and Richard Rowley and her half-sister Sarah Leona Hamilton.
