Listen to Obituary

David Lindsay Parker was born on July 8, 1957 in Dayton Ohio, to Jack and Janice Parker.

He was the oldest of 11 children. Elizabeth, Catherine, Rebecca, Jack, Caroline, Jean Marie, Robert, Donald, Rachel, and Peter. He was a beloved brother.

He graduated high school the same year as his sister Elizabeth. He always said he loved 4th grade so much he did it again. We suspect it was because his family had to move so many times that year.

Upon graduating high school, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sapporo, Japan.

After returning from his mission, he attended Brigham Young University and received a bachelor’s and master's degree in Electrical Engineering.

At BYU he met Loni Peterson and four and a half years later they were married on December 27, 1983 in the Mesa Arizona temple.

They had their first baby, Douglas Lindsay, in Provo before moving to New Jersey to work for Bell Laboratories. In New Jersey they were blessed with Brian David and Stephen Russel. They then moved to Allentown, Pennsylvania and were blessed with Rachel Marie, Randall Young, and Sharon. When asked how many children he wanted, David always said he wanted one or two kids at a time, so they were thrilled to welcome the twins, Heather and Megan. Emily was born shortly before they moved to Colorado where they were blessed with their last child, Bethany.

David worked hard to provide for his family. He worked the same job for over 30 years even though the name of the company kept changing. He also worked hard to make his home a lovely place, doing landscaping, gardening, home repairs and improvements, teaching his children hard work and dedication. He would even put his children’s friends to work. He was an Eagle Scout and helped all of his sons achieve the same honor.

David was a faithful man who served as a bishop, high councilor, ward missionary and many other callings throughout his life.

While he had limited time for hobbies, David loved cartography, birdwatching, and viewing lightning storms.

David endured many health complications over the years. At 36 he had his first open heart surgery and a second at 55. At age 59 he had his first massive stroke that left the right side of his body paralyzed. David was determined to remain productive so he learned to walk, type, work, and drive again. He went to the temple nearly every day, and served as a temple worker while doing extensive family history work. Although he had physical disabilities, he still worked hard doing dishes, yard work, serving in church, and caring for others. He continued to serve up until his second stroke in November of 2022.

This second massive stroke left him almost completely paralyzed and nonverbal, but he fought hard to communicate and be present for all who visited him. David was a fighter and wanted to be here for his family as long as he could. He taught those that served him that even though life gets hard, you can still find joy.

He died peacefully at 68 at his family home in Springville, Utah early in the morning on December 18, 2025. He leaves a legacy of love, family, hard work, faithfulness, and dedication.

He is survived by his wife, Loni Parker, and his 10 children, 24 grandchildren and his nine younger siblings and his father, Jack. He is preceded in death by his baby sister Rachel and his mother Janice.
