David Raymond Ross

August 16, 1937 — September 25, 2021

David Raymond Ross, born August 16th, 1937 in Salt Lake City Utah passed peacefully in his home on the morning of September 25th, 2021. David served active duty in the United States Navy from 1955-1958. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Katherine Ross, his grandson Nathan Ross, his great-granddaughter Emelia Jeremica as well as his beloved wife, Gay Louise French Ross, who he cared for through Alzheimer’s for more than ten years. He is survived by all 6 of his younger siblings, as well as his four children, Anthony (Tony) Ross, Rebecca (Becky) Clark, Launa Johnson, and Wayne Ross. He was also a loving grandfather to 30, and great-grandfather to 25. He was always a dedicated supporter of his family, and his influence carries on through his descendants.
David was a well-established career man, with years of work as a real estate broker and syndicate partner, land developer, business owner, entrepreneur, and motel owner. When he wasn’t working, he was a great adventurer. He loved to travel, especially to Mexico where he and his wife made life-long friends. David also frequently enjoyed boating, fishing, motorcycle riding, swimming, and hosting large events like family reunions. These adventures would often be documented through another hobby of his, photography. He also liked to work on home projects and was an accomplished handyman.
David was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He volunteered many years of devoted service to the Seattle Temple as a temple worker alongside his wife, Gay. The two of them also served as missionaries for the newly-established Manhattan New York Temple, where they officiated in its very first session. David was a talented bass singer who often participated in church choirs. Additionally, he was an adventure-seeking scout leader, and took his troops on many exciting travels, including Baja Mexico by motorbike, and rafting on the Salmon River in Idaho.
David was a remarkable man, and will be missed dearly by his friends and family. A family graveside service with military rights will be held at 2:00pm MST at Historic Springville Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 28th via Zoom at 7:00pm MST.
