David Grant Sutherland

David Grant Sutherland passed away December 13th, 2023, peacefully in his sleep. He was born August 17th, 1942 in Los Angeles California. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is survived by his loving wife Joanne Beverly Sutherland. They were married in Los Angeles on January 18th, 1964 in a civil ceremony and the sealed for time and eternity on January 21, 1964 in the LA temple. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this coming January which is a testament to their lifelong commitment to each other.
 
They had 5 children together: Daniel and wife Collette, Mark and wife Melissa and Sandy. As well as Gary and Mike who proceeded him death. And his parents Roy and Shirley Sutherland.
 
He is survived by his siblings Darrell, Lorin, Karl, Sharon and Craig Sutherland. 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
 
Anyone who knows Dave knows of his lifelong love of cars, especially fast ones. He built many hot rods over the years including a 1961 Chevy Impala like the one he had when he and Joanne married. He was currently in the middle of building a 1958 Volvo P-544. He was an original member of the L.A. Roadster club and enjoyed anything to do with cars, especially older hot rods that were very fast! 
 
The family is asking in leu of flowers to please donate to your local Food Pantry or Shelter.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the church at 1580 North Main in Mapleton.  There will be a viewing at the church from 12:00 to 12:45 prior to the service.  Interment will be in the Mapleton Cemetery.
