Listen to Obituary

Debra Ann "Debi" Robinson (née Goudy) passed away on Saturday November 15, 2025 at her home in Mapleton, Utah surrounded by her family after a short battle with neuroendocrine cancer. Debi was born to Lynn and Zelda Goudy on October 25, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah and was the youngest of three girls. Her family moved to Orem, Utah shortly after her birth, where she spent her formative years. As a child she loved her family and friends, cats, I Love Lucy, The Monkees, Rob Grill of The Grass Roots, Bette Davis, Cary Grant, and visits to her maternal grandmother's little widow Provo apartment.

After graduating from Orem High School in 1971, Debi initially sought a career in Nursing, but transitioned to Dietary, and while working at Utah Valley Hospital (IHC) in Provo, she met the love of her life, James S. "Jimmy" Robinson. They were married August 24, 1974 and spent 51 years together. After Jimmy was in a horrible motorcycle accident in March 1975, she stuck by his side and was instrumental in his recovery.

Debi eventually found her true calling in life after becoming a mother to two sons: Sam Edward Robinson (born November 3, 1984) and Max John Robinson (born April 5, 1988). She always said the two happiest days of her life were the days she found out she was going to be a boy mom. As a wife and mother, she instilled her love of music, movies, Stephen King, amazing food as a result of her cooking abilities, summer weather, slurpees, Seven Peaks, and an offbeat sense of humor. Her laugh was loud, full of life, and had an infectiousness that could not be contained. She believed her sons could do anything, and was a constant motivational force, as well as a beam of support when things were tough.

After working at IHC for 20+ years, Debi transitioned to working in retail at K-Mart for a few years. In 2001, she took a job in the Video Rental Department at Ream's in Springville, and eventually moved to the non-foods section and developed a special relationship with her co-workers and customers. She retired from Ream's in March 2025, and while she was sad to leave the job, she continued to shop at Ream's and would constantly run into customers and former co-workers who always said how much they missed her presence in the store.

Her family was so lucky that they got to spend the precious time with her outside of her work and enjoy her presence at home. She was the best, and we all will miss her personality, the way her eyes would squint when she smiled, her random singing around the house, her warmth, and her comforting demeanor. We will try our absolute hardest to navigate this world without her.

Debi is preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her husband, two sons, sisters Cherelyn "Cher" (Alan) Moek, and Susan "Sue" (Brent) Lowe, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as Sam's girlfriend Allison Moellmer and her four daughters (Hannah, Olivia, Chloe, and Kansas), whom "Grandma Debi" adored and always looked forward to seeing on Sundays.

In accordance with Debi's wishes, there will not be an immediate viewing or funeral service. Debi's family will have a Celebration of Life in Spring 2026, as warm weather was Debi's favorite setting for get-togethers. This will be scheduled at a later date.

Debi's family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at Utah Valley and Spanish Fork IHC Hospitals, especially Dr. Tullis and Dr. Al-Dandashi, for their care towards Debi and her family during the last few weeks of her life, as well as Dr. Fordham at Spanish Fork IHC. Also, thank you to Dr. Esplin of Revere Health Oncology, and the nurses with Intermountain Hospice who tended to Debi at home during her final day.
