Dennis H. Peterson, 79, of Mapleton, passed away on December 5, 2025. He was born in Burbank, California, on July 1, 1946 to Jay Heber and Elizabeth Louise (Betty) Peterson. Dennis spent his early years in Southern California before his family settled in Spanish Fork, Utah,

As a young man, Dennis honorably served in the National Guard, demonstrating the discipline and commitment that would define him. He also served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Denver, Colorado—an experience that strengthened his faith and deepened his dedication to service.

On May 24, 1968, Dennis married Gloria Bosman Peterson, with whom he shared many years of devotion, laughter, and family life. Together they had five children. After Gloria’s passing, Dennis found companionship again and later married Annette Ryan with whom he spent the remainder of his life. Their relationship brought comfort and steady companionship in his later years.

Dennis was a faithful and devoted member of the Church throughout his life. He served in many callings, including High Priest Group Leader, Elders Quorum President, and Second Counselor in the Bishopric. His service was marked by humility, loyalty, and a genuine love for the people in his care.

Dennis was a steel worker for Geneva Steel. Later he worked for Provo district until his retirement.

Dennis had a competitive spirit and a lifelong love for sports. He enjoyed golfing with buddies, fishing, playing baseball, bowling and basketball. He rarely missed a chance to cheer for his favorite teams, especially BYU. He was a member of a tractor club and went to tractor pull competitions. One of his greatest joys was supporting his grandchildren. He loved attending their sports games, watching them grow, compete, and succeed. His pride in them was unmistakable.

He is survived by his wife, Annette Peterson; Sisters Janet (Kim) Pierce of Spanish Fork, Utah; Erma Jean (Bob) Scherwitz of Calgary, Alberta Canada; his 4 children: Ryan, (Amy)Peterson of Provo, Utah; Kevin (Jennifer) Peterson of Syracuse, Utah; Joni (Adrian) Ford of Spanish Fork, Utah; and Karen (Josh) Adams of Spanish Fork, Utah; as well as his grandchildren- Tyler, Calum, Holly, Jake, Heidi, Spencer, Seth, Amber, Alissa, Kasey, Cierra, Derek, and Mason. and extended family who adored him.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Gloria Peterson, his son Dennis Kent Peterson, his brother Michael Peterson, and his parents.

Dennis will be remembered for his loyalty, his warmth, his competitive spirit, and the steadfast love he gave to his family. His presence will be deeply missed and forever treasured by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held on December 13, 2025 in the Chapel located at 1316 South Main, Mapleton, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be held Friday evening December, 12 from 6-8 pm at Wheeler Mortuary 82 West 400 North, Mapleton, Utah, and on Saturday just prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 am. Burial will be at East Lawn cemetery.
