Dennis Kent Peterson, 55, of Mapleton, sadly passed away Saturday June 28, 2025. He was born on November 29, 1969, in Provo Utah, to Dennis H. Peterson and Gloria Bosman Peterson. He married Pamela Ovard in 1994 (later divorced). Together they had three children Heidi, Spencer, and Seth Peterson.
Kent was born with a passion for living life to the fullest. He was very talented in sports and played baseball, basketball, and football growing up. In Highschool he played football for the Springville Red Devils. Kent graduated and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to Brisbane Australia. After his mission he got into weightlifting and bodybuilding.
Kent was fascinated by nutrition and health which inspired him to get a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Utah. He maintained his certified personal trainer status throughout his life. He was always encouraging others to be healthier by training at the gym, exercising, and incorporating good nutrition.
Kent loved spending time outdoors and catching up with friends. He loved playing golf with his sons and family. He loved going to the gym and lunch with his daughter. He loved going fishing, reading novels, concerts, and learning new hobbies like playing the guitar.
Life was not without challenges, Kent faced many health struggles including Tourette’s syndrome and other hardships, yet he consistently demonstrated remarkable resilience. His ability to rise above adversity and continue pushing forward was an inspiration to those around him. Above all Kent will be remembered as a selfless father, son, family member and beloved friend with endless kindness that he gifted the world. Someone who encouraged others, pursued his passions, and never stopped striving to better himself.
Kent is survived by his father Dennis Peterson; three children Heidi, Spencer, and Seth Peterson; His siblings; Ryan (Amy) Peterson, Kevin (Jennifer) Peterson, Joni (Adrian) Ford, Karen (Josh) Adams; Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by his dear mother, Gloria Peterson, whom he grieved very much. We all take comfort in knowing that he is with her again.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 7, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Mapleton Stake Center located at 970 North 400 East Mapleton, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be held on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary located at 82 West 400 North in Mapleton, and on Monday just prior to the service from 9:30 am. - 10:30 am at the church. Burial will be at 2:00 pm in the Mapleton Cemetery, 620 West Maple Street, Mapleton.
