Doris Barbara Halverson Kissel

Doris Barbara Halverson Kissel, 88, of Mapleton, passed away on June 24th, 2025, surrounded by family. Barbara was born on January 2nd, 1937, to Doris and Merrill Halverson, in Rock Springs, Wyoming. She was the very first baby born that year in Wyoming, and she was very proud of that.

Barbara was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, friend, Mom, and Grandma. She was a generous person who touched the lives of many with her empathetic heart and her strong will.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cross stitching, and seeing her grandchildren.

She made her own wedding dress and always made her children's Halloween costumes.

Barbara was known for her cooking, baking, canning, and her famous Christmas chex mix. She leaves behind 5 generations, a legacy she was always proud to share with others.

Barbara is survived by her children, Toni Mortensen, Todd Mortensen (Shelly), Jerry Mortensen (Robin), and Nicci Waite (Bryan). And by her brothers, Boyd and Joe Halverson.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Brandt and Jed Mortensen, her parents, Doris, and Merrill Halverson. Her brother Dick and her sister Rose.

Although Barbara is gone, she will live in our hearts forever.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 pm at Wheeler & Sundberg Funeral Homes, 211 East 200 South Springville, followed immediately by a graveside service at 1:00 pm at Springville Evergreen Cemetery, 1997 South 400 East, Springville, UT.
