Doyle Dewis Shaw, 72 of Provo, passed away, August 14, 2019 in Payson, Utah. He was born April 18, 1947 to Dewis Milton Shaw and Janice Dawn Jensen in Boise, Idaho. Doyle graduated from Weber State College where he ran track and held the 1966 Big Sky Conference Mile record with a time of 4:19.6.
Doyle was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in Australia. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps between 1969-1974 reaching the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.
Doyle’s passion in life was art. Following his mission he attended the University of Utah where he studied art. After teaching for a year at the University of Utah, Doyle opened a studio for fine art. He also studied art independently with LeConte Stewart. He continued to pursue and teach art throughout his life. He was an award-winning artist whose specialties were realist-impressionist landscape and figure paintings. He hosted the Classical model drawing class in Springville for over 20 years. Some of his artwork can be viewed at www.ArtPal.com/doyleshaw. One of his final weeks was spent with his son Brian, enjoying the beauty of the landscape in Idaho which was one of his favorite things to do. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janice Dawn Shaw.
Doyle is survived by his siblings, Michael Milton Shaw, Scott Christian (GayLyne) Shaw, L. Brehon Shaw, Noel Antoinette (Ron) McGee, his children Mark Shaw, Brian Shaw, Andrea (Austin) Nelson, Sam (Megan) Shaw, Kristi (Kyle) Gregory, and nine grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 S State Street in Provo. A viewing will be held before the service from 9:30-10:30 am at Wheeler Mortuary in Springville, 211 E 200 S Springville.
